NEEDLE -PROTOTYPE SHELL-
A downloadable game for Windows
[BLURB]
This is my first real game! It's made in Godot, largely by me (with some help).
This is a demo. The stages Tutorial Pt. 1, Tutorial Pt. 2 and the 1-star boss APPRENTICE are done.
-PROTOTYPE SHELL- indicates that this is the first iteration of the game, and depending on feedback, I may rewrite it entirely to be able to be developed on a larger scale. Otherwise, let's just see what happens!
I only marked the game as Windows-compatible, but it might be possible to play on other platforms (I couldn't test myself). Let me know!
Thank you very much for visiting.

Earth is under attack!
You are NEEDLE, a small, autonomous spacecraft designed by the best and brightest on the planet. You're tasked with defending planet Earth from any invasive threats, be it extraterrestrial or extradimensional. You can't take many hits, but what you lack in defense you more than make up for in power and speed.
You'll deal with sets of bosses, their difficulties ranked by "Star" classes. Deal with the lower 1-star bosses to move onto the 2-star bosses.
No matter what they throw at you, you're equipped to deal with it. It's your job.
Dodge the attacks.
Thread the needle.
Save the planet.

Played it for 30 minutes, and it is pretty cool. I did felt a delay in the aiming and I kind of hope that there was a Hotline Miami 2 kind of option where you could see ahead of your placement, and as the other guy said, some improvements in boss damaging indicator can help.
Outside of all that, it was really fun to play. All the best with the full game.
nice game:
- tracking the boss is actually harder when you are close to it, it's much easier to just fly away from the boss and track him with the tracer.
- the hitbox of the ship isn't really readable like in other bullet hells especially when the ship rotates
- also it would be much easier to track the boss if there was any indication that it takes damage besides the health going down (maybe a flashing healthbar or something like that)
- it would be nice if the menu got polished a little more (like being able to close the settings with esc) i didn't spend much time in the menu so idk
so yea, i liked the demo even though i don't really play a lot of bullet hells, nice style and nice polished gameplay, cool
Thanks for the feedback!
I'll try and improve boss damaging feedback.
The hitbox is in the dead center of the ship, so you shouldn't (hopefully) have to worry about rotation being a problem.
The menu/UI is very barebones, but I'm struggling with that part a bit. I hope I can improve it soon!
